In the Bag

I get asked a lot about what I shoot with and I see that many of the photographers I follow are answering this question…

What’s in my bag on most days is a little boring.
When I want to have fun, it’s far more interesting.

Traveling kit.
I fly around a lot, often twice a month. I have the privilege of working in some very special places and I make sure to take my camera, but oh man, have you ever tried taking a big laptop with work books and a big camera with loads of lenses and crap onto carrying on, on a work flight? Not fun! Also not fun when your luggage is full of equipment for the job.
So, my travel kit is light and very basic.
Nikon D700, spare battery & charger, spare memory card and reader
Sigma 24-70mm f2.8
Nikon 80-400mm (not the new one)
Some times, I’ll have a tripod, if there was space.

Creative Kit.
This is a more fun, go out and look for stuff to shoot, type kit. It weighs a ton and covers all bases.
Nikon D700 w/ grip, spare battery, spare memory card
Nikon 105mm f2.8 Macro
Nikon 50mm f1.8 D
Sigma 24-70mm f2.8
Nikon 80-400mm w/ tripod mount
Nikon SB-900 Speedlight, spare batteries

Dream Kit
That’s all good and well, but what about what I want to be in the bag?
Nikon 400mm f2.8 w/ 2x extender
Nikon 85mm PC-E Micro
Nikon 14-24mm f2.8

There are film kits that I have, assembled, ready to be used at a moments notice, but since I prefer to dev the film myself, I’ve not had time to shoot film in well over a year.
